Summer in Argentiere & Chamonix

Argentiere is as popular for its summer charm and outdoors sports as it is in winter. 250m higher up the valley from Chamonix town centre, Argentiere is a charming Alpine village, packed with character, with instant access to mountain trails, hikes and mountain bike rides.

Chalet Mont Blanc is the perfect accommodation base, from which to go hiking the Petit Balcon trails, climbing the rocks of Gaillands or Vallorcine, mountain biking the steeps of Le Tour or Brevant or playing golf, white water rafting, canyoning, horse riding and, of course, mountaineering! Chamonix town has a large indoor / outdoor swimming pool, a gym, indoor climbing wall and the "must-try" summer luge.

Mont Blanc Culture

For the more sedate who just want to chill out in the Alpine summer magic, it’s all there on a plate. The shopping is brilliant, where anyone who’s anyone has a concept store, from The North Face to Chanel! Art and music is vibrant in the valley and there’s always a gig or artshow to be had. Keep tags on the Globe Gallery in Argentiere and Moulin d’Artistes. On a sunny afternoon, from Chalet Mont Blanc there are lovely nearby woodland strolls, with secret play areas for the kids. Or you can sit and sip beers and Oranginas on the sunny bar/restaurant terraces of Argentiere, while munching through the extravagant menus of ice cream sundaes (especially at The Office Bar), not to mention great food throughout Argentiere village. Or for true relaxation back at the Chalet, treat yourself to a Swedish or Hot Stones massage from one of the local qualified massage therapists in Argentiere.

Wherever you go and whatever you do, the amazing Chamonix scenery won’t leave you alone. Every moment of mountain fun and adventure or Alpine peace and tranquillity will always be accompanied by the truly breath-taking Chamonix Mont Blanc mountain ranges. Welcome to our mountain paradise.

Hiking with Argentiere Altitude

Chamonix's 350km and 160 different routes of quality hiking trails will take you to Alpine environments of unbelievable beauty, awash with mountain flowers and populated by chamois, marmottes and all sorts of wildlife. Some of our favourites start from Argentiere village or from Les Grands Montets, all on the doorstep of Chalet Mont Blanc. Websites such as www.chamonixwalks.com offer great info on different tours. While there are lower level walks to little mountain restaurants or stunning waterfalls (also check Chamonix Tourism's hiking recommendations)… it's worth purchasing the lift pass to access some of the Chamonix's most beautiful destinations, including Lac Blanc, Grand Balcon Nord or Col de Balme (visit Chamonix.com for more detailed information).

Golf with a Mont Blanc Backdrop

The 18 hole course at Golf Club de Chamonix, possibly the most beautifully located golf course ever, is a 5-minute drive away from Chalet Mont Blanc. Prices for golf sessions or lessons vary according to time of day, day of week and week of the year, so visit the Golf Club de Chamonix for specific information. The driving range is a great first-stop for newcomers, where you can hit 150 balls for 10euros. Once you’ve experienced Chamonix’s golf course, why not feed your golfing passion with day trips to the nearby golf courses at Megeve and Evian.

Climbing and Mountaineering

Whether you are top-roping at Lac Gaillands or being guided along some glacier routes up the Aiguille du Midi, Chalet Mont Blanc makes for a perfect base. All the main sport climbs in the Chamonix valley can be found, along with a general information (especially re safety) service, from the Office d’Haute Montagne. Chamonix has a plethora of mountain guides, courses and advice resources for your benefit, whether you are a beginner or advanced. You can visit the Bureau des Guides in Argentiere Village or check out Chamonix Tourism for listings.

Mountain Biking & the Secret Mecca of Chamonix

You can't get better located that Chalet Mont Blanc for multi-directional access to the “VTT”-tracks that range from the sublime to the ridiculous. Mountain biking has previously been better encouraged in nearby resorts of Morzine and Crans Montana, but over the last few years, the Chamonix Valley has picked up on the popularity of the sport for all levels of experience and aptitude. There are carefully marked green, blue & red trails which get you biking fun dirt roads and single tracks around the valley, along with fantastic downhill access from the Col de Balme, Brevant, Flegere & Grands Montets lifts. For the truly brave-hearted, Vallorcine’s new downhill mountain bike single-track course is a challenge to boast about well after your stay in Chamonix.
